"We always talk about the downside of [fandom] because that’s the more colourful thing to talk about. There are many more fans out there whose response to wishing for creative control is to make up their own stories. And to make up their own ideas, and to make beautiful drawings, and scripts of their own. There is the slash fiction - and why not? What’s wrong with porn? It’s made many people in this room happy; it’s a vessel of human happiness, why should we object to it? It’s a creative response to something! That’s brilliant and wonderful and heartening and exciting when that happens. Because that’s how people start being writers. It is. You start being a writer by imitating other writers. Mark and I never stopped!…That is a hugely positive thing and yes, of course, somewhere in amongst that there is the clinically insane, but we can’t allow that to dominate the conversation."
On the Steadfast Approach of an Oncoming Darkness by joolabee
I remember this glorious time when to put Sherlock and John together you only had to get Sherlock back from the dead and have John forgive him and maybe solve an identity crisis or two. No ex assassins wives and Sherlock being shot and babies and idiots being utterly incapable of telling each other that they’re in love. What a mess.

All I can say is Wow! It’s too hard to explain to write a proper review but essentially it is about John and Sherlock escaping London to the ocean when a meteor hits earth and brings on the end of the world. That being said it is so much more subtle than that. Check it out here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/567464

"Sherlock wrapped around him in a knot and even though John knew it was silly and childish and not at all necessary he clutched at Sherlock’s jacket like he’d sink down into the depths of the sea, so cold they burned."
This is my favorite not-kid!fic. If you don’t understand what that means then you haven’t read the Wee Doctor series and are committing some crime to the the Sherlock fandom. It’s brilliantly written, unique, intense, heartbreaking and beautiful. Check it out and send some well-deserved kudos to the author.
And don’t forget to send some love to archiaart who drew this amazing picture!
Yo. Look at what tristripe had made. I don’t even know what to say about this it’s so lovely. I have so many wee doctor feels I don’t even know what I’m feeling.
perhaps one of my favorite series ever. If you haven’t read it yet, what on God’s green earth could you possibly be waiting for!? Start it today.
Sorry guys… January some how has snuck up on me and has lead to my busiest travel season for work in the year (I will literally be traveling for about 3 weeks straight). Because of that I am going on hiatus until Feburary. Who knew trying to keep a weekly blog would be so hard.
But if you are looking for something to keep you busy until I get back, check out Miracle Year by Chase820 (found here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/393018/chapters/645540) It’s over 200k words long. I downloaded it to ibooks and it is 1200 pages long (yipes!). I asked myself can I read something 1200 pages long when there are sooo many fics out there but then I started reading it and it is so good. Like really good. Like yes, I think I will put in the effort and make it through. And you should too. Go check it out now.
